This mobile is arguably the most sophisticated camera phone currently available and finally delivers a rival to Sony’s impressive Cybershot range of handsets. For night time image capturing, the xenon flash does a lot more than the standard and weaker LCD flash, while the camera is also enhanced by the inclusion of panorama, micro and macro shots. Like some advances digital cameras, it has a face detector which detects when you are taking photos of a person and adjusts the focus accordingly.
The video player is just as impressive, as it also allows you to edit your videos and create your own films.
Other great features include HSDPA internet access and a music player that supports major formats such as MP3, AAC, AAC+, 3-AAC+, WMA formats, not to mention wireless Bluetooth headsets. Also included is built-in web browser, Email with support for attachments and a 2.0 USB.
In terms of memory, the G800 has an internal memory of 160 MB, which isn’t an awful lot considering how many photos you’re likely to take and save. A microSD memory card can be used to expand the space available on the phone.
One downside to the phone is its large bulky size, which goes against the recent trend of ultra-slim handsets set by Samsung, and makes it look more like a digital camera than mobile phone.
Without a doubt, the Samsung G800 is all about taking photos thanks to the sheer quality of its camera, and with a host of great features it should prove to be one the hits of 2007.
