Samsungs necklace mobile phone

Tue, 18 Apr 2006

Samsung Electronics, the world’s third-largest cell phone producer, took the wraps off an MP3 player-embedded model SPH-S4300 that users can wear like a necklace .

The sleek handset, which garnered the prestigious Reddot Design award of Germany earlier this year, weighs just 77.5 grams and is slightly bigger than an adult thumb.

Samsung said, "This music phone would make noise in the market thanks to its snazzy design."

It’s called a Flick and Swing design and Samsung is calling it a joystick . When it is closed, it looks like a nice, small MP3 player with dedicated MP3 controls and 1GB of capacity for all your tunes .

When you flick it open the keypad is revealed. That means that you can have a pleasingly small phone that is still usable when you want to talk on it. It measures 86 x 49 x 21 mm.

Plus, the built-in camera features a 1.3-megapixel matrix and users of the SPH-S4300 can send text messages or play games while listening to music .

Samsung's president Lee Ki-tae said, "We have spearheaded the development of MP3 handsets from 1999, when we revealed the first-ever phone with an MP3 player, to the latest Super Music phone with an 8GB memory ."

Lee Ki-tae said, "We will continue to put forth efforts to roll out MP3 phones with compelling premium designs, which can play high-quality sounds."
