Sony Ericsson Z525 announced

Mon, 10 Apr 2006

Sony Ericsson today announced the Z525, a stylish clamshell offering push-to-talk functionality. The Z525 is a quad band phone that allows you to access GSM networks around the world. The Z525 handset also features Bluetooth, a VGA camera, as well as a host of messaging capabilities, and will be sold in the US beginning in the second quarter 2006.

The Z525, said Sony Ericsson, comes in a blue/silver combo colour. This flip phone has a number of fun personalisation features, including colourful interchangeable front and back covers, blue lights around the rim which light up in eight different patterns to match melodies assigned to individual callers and a colour external screen which can display callers photos which have been taken with the built-in VGA camera.

Other features of the Z525 include Bluetooth support, push-to-talk functionality, video recording, email and web browsing support, speakerphone and a built-in MP3 player which plays MP3 and AAC music files.

Push-to-talk is a fun and easy way to stay in touch as immediate contact is maintained. It's useful in many types of situations, including connecting a small group such as colleagues working in various locations or friends and family in different places.

"It is an exciting time to be at Sony Ericsson," said Najmi Jarwala, president, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Inc. (USA), in a statement. "The Z525 is further proof that Sony Ericsson can and will continue to create award-winning mobile devices that lead in design, quality and are easy to use. We are committed to offering a complete portfolio of handsets, PC cards and accessories for North American operators and consumers.
