Wed, 09 Aug 2006

Sony Ericsson today announced the generic version of the Vodaphone V630i in the shape of the K618 model.

The company said the new K618 has been developed for those users that want ‘the best of both worlds’ entertainment on the move and a powerful business tool.

"The K618 is the ideal phone to bring the benefits of 3G-enabled mobile entertainment to a wide audience," said Jan Wareby Corporate Executive Vice President, Head of Sales and Marketing, Sony Ericsson. "It will have appeal with the business person on the move, who will appreciate the freedom and choice that the latest mobile technologies can offer. It's a great-looking, desirable phone that you'll want to keep close to hand."

The very first thing you would notice about the phone is its stunning 176x220 pixels, TFT 1.9" 262k colour display . It features a 2 MegaPixel camera with 2.5x digital zoom and QCIF video recording &streaming. The phone includes a music player as well, which supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ playbacks. The phone comes with a default 256MB Memory Stick Micro (M2). Users can store upto 230 music tracks and over 700 photos. Perhaps the only con is that the memory can be expanded upto maximum of 1GB.

Sony Ericsson said this compact phone is well equipped for both capturing and sharing photos, and playing music. The K618 features Bluetooth Streaming, which means that full-length music tracks (or video clips) can be sent wirelessly from the phone and listened to on a compatible Bluetooth enabled device, such as the Stereo Bluetooth Headset HBH-DS970.

The K618, which has a slim-line 'stick' design, will launch in a choice of Vibrant Black or Bright White. This UMTS 2100 device will be available in selected markets from the third quarter of 2006.
