Sony Ericsson Launched Z610 Mobile Phone

Wed, 23 Aug 2006

Sony Ericsson recently announced the Z610, a stylish 3G phone that blends performance with standout design.

The display illuminates when the user receives a text message or a phone call and disappears when not in use. The handset has a mirror finish and comes equipped with a two-megapixel camera, MP3 player, expandable memory and Bluetooth . It also supports push-email and has a picture blog application to allow users to share photos via websites.

"The unique design of the Z610 is inspired by nature. We have applied a mirror finish and used a hidden display for the first time to achieve the feel of a calm ocean surface" says Eiji Shintani, Art Director, Creative Design Centre, Sony Ericsson. "OLED technology has enabled us to build in a display that doesn’t interrupt the seductive, reflective qualities on the front of the phone. And given that Z610 is also a highly-specified device, it appeals to the design conscious that need a phone for every day use."

The magic of the Z610 is revealed when a call comes in or the user receives an SMS or MMS. The hidden external display illuminates, giving the effect that the caller-ID information is floating on the face of the phone itself.

The Z610 marks Sony Ericsson's latest foray into the fashion handset market. As is typical for the manufacturer, the device features relatively high-end specifications despite being targeted at the style market .

The handset will come in a choice of black, pink or blue and is expected to be available by the end of September.
