It looks like Korean phone maker LG has a hit on its hands with Chocolate, the first in a series of Black Label phones from the company . The phone sold more than one million units globally in the first eight weeks of its release in early May.
The latest reports suggest that LG Electronics has already sold 1.7 million of the devices since its launch just over two months ago.
K. W. Kim, President, LG Electronics Middle East and Africa operations, said, "The Chocolate phone is for the discerning customer who views mobile phones as a bold fashion statement. We are amazed at the way it has captured the imagination of the region's consumers and are confident that it will become one of our bestselling products ever."
Kim pointed out that the Chocolate phone's success was a result of a combination of excellent design, clever marketing and a proactive sales strategy. 'LG is now positioning its handsets as premium products, and this stunning phone is just the beginning of a worldwide trend. The global launch has been extremely successful and we have already been flooded with additional orders,' he added.
Chocolate, the brand name for LG's KG800 phone is no longer alone in the company's stable of premium phones. The company recently announced that Chocolate would be available in new versions later this year, including white and pink handsets as well as a new premium' Chocolate phone with unique design variations and enhanced technical specifications.
"As the first handset under the Black Label premium brand, Chocolate has been an amazing international success, smashing sales records in many countries," explains Jae Bae, Executive Vice President of Mobile Communications Company of LG Electronics.
"It's important to continue to develop the Chocolate family to build on this success, which is why LG is expanding the range, giving Chocolate even wider appeal."
