Samsung has announced the launch of its SGH-i320 Slim QWERTY Smartphone a launch which is said to signal the company's drive in the smartphone market.
The Samsung i320 is described as a super-slim bar type handset, measuring just 11.5mm in depth and 95g in weight with a QWERTY keyboard, enabling users to send emails and text messages far more conveniently, says Samsung
The device is based on Windows Mobile 5.0, has a 2.2-inch screen with 65,536-colour display, features media playback, and sports a 1.3MP camera for video and stills, which are stored on 120GB hard drive or on a MicroSD card.
Functions supported by the handset are especially useful for users who want to chat, read, and send emails from their mobiles. The i320 features an imbedded instant messaging program and 'mobile mail' functions to enable users to send and receive photos, music and a variety of multi-media messages.
It's a tri-band phone rather than 3G, and features Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free talking, but no Wi-Fi.
Kitae Lee, president of Samsung's Telecommunications Network Business, said, "The trend and popularity of slim phones will be carried over to the smartphone market." He added, " Samsung will lead the trend of smartphones by combining its cutting-edge technology and sleek ultra-slim designs. "
The SGH-i320 will be launched in Europe this month.
