David Beckham has signed up as the global brand ambassador for mobile handset manufacturer Motorola in a three-year deal, which will include the footballer promoting the mobile giant's products during the World Cup tournament in Germany .
The three-year contract will kick-off with advertising appearances rolled out across the network of Motorola stores and distributors throughout Asia.
The agreement, brokered by 19 Entertainment, will also include the opportunity for embedded exclusive Beckham content, such as video clips and screen savers, in Motorola handsets .
The Real Madrid star will also support initiatives such as the recently launched (Moto) Red mobile phone, devised as part of the Red awareness-raising initiative to tackle AIDS in Africa.
"We're very excited about this collaboration for ourselves, our customers and our consumers," Jeremy Dale, vice president of retail marketing at Motorola Mobile Devices, said in a statement. "David Beckham is a global icon and we look forward to working with him across a range of projects."
"In particular, that he'll be using his immense popularity to help promote Moto Red."
