People hardly remember telephone numbers of their family and friends any more because Britain is in the grip of mobile phone culture, according to a survey .
According to the study, Fifty per cent of mobile users can only recall five numbers by heart and 14 per cent know only two numbers or fewer.
Only 20 per cent of users can compared to decade ago when twice as many knew 15 numbers off the top of their head.
The research illustrates Britain is becoming more and more dependent on mobile phones for storing contact details.
Yougov conducted the poll of 2,239 people on behalf of telecoms firm Boxbrands.
