Nokia Corp is suing two Chinese companies for producing mobile phones that allegedly copy the design of a popular Nokia handset .
Nokia claims that these two companies have been copying their products, which was illegal. These two companies are Shenzhen Telsda Mobile Communication Industry Development Co. and Song Xun Da Zhong Ke Electronic Shenzhen.
Nokia has asked the courts to force these two companies to stop making and selling models that allegedly infringe on their designs and models. The company is also asking for $62,500 in damages.
Nokia said the allegedly copied handset was the Nokia 7260, a phone it unveiled in Shanghai in 2004 as part of a collection inspired by 1920s styling. The 7260 features tri-band capabilities and a camera .
Last year, China became Nokia's largest market, overtaking the United States, with sales growing 28 percent to $4 billion.
