D-Link's DPH-540 flip-phone is ready to surf wireless VoIP networks.
D-Link today said they were unveiling a new flip-style mobile Wi-Fi phone designed to allow users to make free limited Internet calls from places where there is open Wi-Fi access.
The 802.11g-based phone allows you to tap into an existing VoIP phone service and doesn't require the use of a computer.
D-Link says the DPH-540, has a large colour display and has all of the features you would come to expect from a modern phone including text messaging. Free calls can be made to other TelTel users, while non-TelTel users can be contacted for a small fee. Features of this flip phone, which makes calls over the Public SIP Telephone Network telephony backbone, include a clear colour backlit LCD display, backlit keypad, speed dial, redial, multiple ring tones and email access.
"We see the teaming of the D-Link phone with the TelTel service as a winning combination for both the consumer and small business," said Steven Joe, president and chief executive officer of D-Link Systems, "It will offer users incredible value by utilizing the only public and open SiP network to make calls anywhere in the world at significant cost savings."
Details on pricing and availability have not been released at this time.
