A senior executive at the worlds largest mobile phone maker, Nokia, told the Financial Times newspaper that the end is coming for makers of MP3 players and camcorders.
Anssi Vanjoki, head of the multimedia unit at the world's largest cell phone maker, pointed out the impact camera phones have had on the photo industry in that past years.
Nokia is world's largest camera manufacturer with 100 million camera phones produced last year.
According to earlier reports, major photo company Konica Minolta Holdings said in January that it would withdraw from the business and Agfa-Gevaert sold its once famous photographic arm in 2004.
Vanjoki said, "In the next 6-12 months, there will be more of these announcements. The next to disappear will be the makers of music devices and then the manufacturers of video cameras."
Nokia made 40 million music handsets in 2005 and intends to make twice that this year. Camcorder functions are becoming increasingly common on smart phones and lower-priced phones as well.
