The New Smart phone Nokia 6708 unveiled

Nokia has unveiled the new Nokia 6708, a compact business device featuring pen-based touch-screen input, 2.66 inches wide, designed to give optimal access to key features and add-on applications. Weighing 150 gm the phone can recognise English and simplified Chinese handwriting.

Mathia Nalappan, vice President of the Asia Pacific, Nokia Enterprise Solutions says "The Nokia 6708 is designed to meet the growing demand for pen-based touch-screen smart phones with handwriting recognition capabilities. The new device is in line with Nokia’s vision of enabling workforce mobility. We believe it's an important addition to Nokia's wide ranging product portfolio for business people."

A smart phone with a talk time of 3 to 6 hours and a standby time up to 148 to 275 hours, the Nokia 6708 supports POP3/IMAP4/SMTP email protocols with attachments as well as a hot swap memory card, which supports data up to 2GB. With a built-in memory of 18 MB SD RAM and 30 MB flash, the Nokia 6708 enables Symbian and Java applications as well.

The phone also presents multimedia functions that is aimed at helping employees balance work and play with its entertainment features including music player, video player, MP3, midi, wav, games, 1.3 mega pixel camera with anti-shaking and multi-shot features.

The model is expected to hit the Asia-Pacific markets in the second quarter of 2006.
