BenQ-Siemens has introduced its second music-focused device in Europe hoping to offer consumers an alternative to the Sony Ericsson Walkman phones .
The music player of the Q-fi EF71 supports all current formats like MP3, AAC and WMA and songs can be stored on an external Micro-SD card .
It features the Q-Fi music system, which is made up of a 10-band equaliser that lets users customise their music which is played on 3D surround speakers, allowing users to share music with friends while on the go in fine quality. The phone has BenQ Siemens own playback app to maximise the performance and dedicated controls.
BenQ mobile says the Q-fi EF71 features a flat, ergonomically shaped keypad and a large, brilliant 2.2 inch-internal display with 262k colours. A second, external 128 x 64 OLED screen is included for when the case is closed.
The tri-band GSM/GPRS phone has an integrated 2.0 mega pixel camera with 9x linear zoom and camcorder function at 30 fps (frames per second).
The Q-fi EF71 can even double as a webcam if connected with a computer via a USB cable. The handset can also be recharged via the USB cable by a laptop .
The Q-fi EF71 measures 9 x 4.7 x 1.9cm and weighs 100g. It comes with a 750mAh battery which when charged provides up to three hours talk time and up to 225 hours operation in stand-by mode.
Furthermore, the Q-fi EF71 is the second device after the Q-fi EF51 within BenQ Mobiles Q-fi range of easy to use music focused devices.
The BenQ-Siemens Q-fi EF71 will come with a Micro-SD card and a stereo headset .
Available in "Stellar Aluminium" in Asia from July 2006 and in Europe from September 2006 BenQ-Siemens has said prices will be determined locally.
BenQ-Siemens currently has no immediate plans to release this handset in the UK .
