Samsung reveals ultrathin mobile phones

The latest battle to produce the world's thinnest mobile phone appears to have moved South Korea's Samsung Electronics ahead of its competitors with the unveiling of six new mobile phones. This includes the U100 model which is 5.9mm thick and claims the title of the world’s thinnest cell phone .

The world's third largest mobile phone maker launched three new models in its range of very thin phone, Ultra II. They also launched three new multimedia models in its Ultra Special range after several years of rapid growth lost market share in 2006.

The Ultra Edition II has two stylish and functional sliders. The Ultra Edition 10.9 (U600) and the Ultra Edition 12.1 (U700); a metallic clamshell, the Ultra Edition 9.6 (U300); and a candy bar handset, the Ultra Edition 5.9 (U100) and will be available in the first quarter, while the multimedia models F700, F520 and F510, which feature large displays, high quality cameras, music software and TV tuners, will be available during the first, second and third quarter.
