South Korean electronics giant, LG Electronics will reveal the successor to its popular Chocolate mobile phone at the forthcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas .
The phone called LG Shine is a slider-type phone which has been available in the markets in South Korea since October. It comes with a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, a MP3 player, a scroll wheel on the front and is priced in South Korea at about 600,000 won (US$656).
Ahn Seung-kwon, head of mobile communication division, said, "Shine is a combination of innovative technologies and emotional design, and it is getting a big attention in the overseas market even before the launch.
"With strategic marketing and localisation efforts, we will be able to make it another global hit product following the success of the Chocolate phone," he added.
The phone will be available internationally in the first quarter, so the launch at the CES is in keeping with that forecast.
LG is hoping that Shine will be even more popular than the Chocolate phone launched last year.
The company is expected to unveil the phone at a news conference in Las Vegas on Sunday.
