Crave launched phone for kids

Mon, 26 Mar 2007

Crave have launched a new mobile specifically designed to appeal to children. Hoever the company is a little sceptical of how this product will be received. The mobiles2go i-Kids phone is being sold as a very useful item.

The phone functions as a standard mobile phone, that can be programmed with four numbers but it also has a built-in GPS receiver allowing parents locate their children. This system is very sophisticated and has many useful features.

The system is linked to the i-Kids website through which parents can locate their children within 20 metres. Additionally, parents can setup three safety zones with a radius of 250m and 6km. This zone is a safe area for the child, and if the child leaves that area, the system will notify the parents.

The notification will be either through the website of via a text message. The system is a good way of keeping an eye on kids. However, the design of the phone could be considered to be unsafe due to the horn shaped aerial which might hurt kids if they fall on it.

The phone can be purchased from the mobiles2go website and costs £100 without the monthly tariff charges of £15.75, not including calls. It is currently available through O2 Germany and is expected to reach the UK market soon .
