A new retailer has begun offering the Apple iPhone 3G in the UK, bringing an end to the O2/Carphone Warehouse monopoly.
The mobile handset is now being stocked and sold through online retailer Mobiles.co.uk, marking the first time that consumers have been able to get their hands on the phone outside of Apple, Carphone Warehouse or O2 stores.
Mobiles.co.uk a subsidiary of The Carphone Warehouse - is offering an 8GB version of the iPhone 3G in black and a 16GB model in black and white on O2 contracts with pricing from free.
Customers ordering the iPhone 3G on the site can use the promo code MOB1108email to receive a free Bluetooth headset, car charger and in-car phone holder.
Mobiles.co.uk created controversy in August 2007 when it listed the device for sale from both O2 and rival operator Vodafone, despite the former gaining exclusive rights to the device.
