Mobile TV By Motorola

Wed, 09 Jan 2008

Motorola has unveiled its latest mobile device, the Mobile TV DH01, which will be one of the first mobile handsets to feature full TV broadcasting.

The shiny black mobile device offers audio and video playback, but its main plus point is its ability to receive and play live TV over the air that's broadcast using the DVB-H standard. Mobile users have the choice of either watching TV as its broadcast, or by recording it directly to the player.

The handset includes 128MB of memory built in, along with an SD card slot for those who may need more. According to Motorola, around 90 minutes of video can be stored onto a 256MB card, which plays at 25 frames per second on the 4.3-inch screen.

The electronics giant also stated the Mobile TV can deal with on-demand content and comes with a battery that can handle up to four hours of video . Media files can also be transferred to the device for extra entertainment via the handset’s USB slot.

Unfortunately, the device won’t be arriving in UK stores for the time being as Europe has yet to adopt DVB-H as a mobile TV broadcasting standard, although EU laws are looking at changing this.
