Samsung have announced sales of its flagship
phone the
Samsung Soul U900 have passed the one million-mark within the first month of its release.
The Korean
company said the first-month figures beat those for the much-hyped
Apple iPhone .
In the
UK, Samsung managed to ship 80,000 units of the U900 in the first two weeks alone, while over 150,000 units were sold to consumers in
Germany, thanks largely to Samsungs
marketing campaign with German
football star Michael Ballack.
Although the flagship handset is currently only available in
Europe, Samsung said it hopes to further drive sales by launching it in
China,
Russia and other Asian markets in the next few months.
The Samsung Soul is a stylish slider that boasts
HSDPA support and a haptic-feedback display for navigation instead of real keys.
A pink version of the Soul was launched in the UK last week exclusively to customers at high street
retailer Phones4U.
