T-Mobile To Launch Roaming Bundles And Cut Roaming Charges Mon, 23 Jun 2008 T-Mobile has announced plans introduce roaming call and text packages to UK consumers.
The mobile network operator said it will introduce roaming call and text bundles called "Euro Holiday Boosters" which will enable pay monthly and pay-as-you-go (PAYG) customers to control the use of their voice minutes and text allowances and the costs of roaming. The packages will be priced at £5, £10, £20 and £30, and respectively give £7.50, £15, £30 and £45 of roaming minutes and texts . T-Mobile said it is also reducing European data roaming charges by 80 per cent from 1 July - cutting the cost of downloading a megabyte of data via a mobile phone, USB dongle or data card from £7.50 to £1.50. Customers will also be able to roam on partner Wi-Fi Hotspot networks at £1 for 10 minutes. From August 30, the company will also slash the cost of sending a text in Europe from 40p to 25p, a reduction of 38 per cent. The move comes in response to calls from EC telecoms commissioner Viviane Reding to reduce the cost of sending a text message in the EU to the same price as sending a domestic text . T-Mobile UK chief executive Jim Hyde said: "This substantial cut in European roaming charges signals our commitment to make mobile use overseas much more affordable and flexible." "We have seen a growing demand to access the internet and make calls while travelling outside the UK ." He added: "These latest measures will allow our customers the confidence to use the internet and make calls as they would at home . This is no longer the domain of the prolific business user.
