Vodafone has launched a new
entertainment service that provides customers with
books on their
mobiles .
The companys new Books on Mobile service, designed in conjunction with
website GoSpoken.com, allows
Vodafone users to
download books worth between £5 and £15 to their
mobile handsets, with purchases added to their monthly
phone bills .
Customers can also download audio or e-book versions of the latest blockbusters, or simply sample chapters of their favourite books in audio and
text .
The new service has been made possible due to
High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology, which provides faster data speeds, meaning a three-hour audio book can be downloaded in just three minutes.
Mike Eaton, head of content at Vodafone UK, said: "Were very excited to bring UKs bestselling authors to mobiles . Our customers want simplicity and services that are easy to select, buy and use."
"Today with our new price plans Vodafone customers have the confidence to browse the
internet on
mobile for as long as they need with no extra costs when sampling or downloading the latest book releases," he added.
