Demand for the iPhone 3G continues to remain strong in the UK, according to new data.
Figures from Mobile Today show that around 27,000 iPhone 3G handsets are being sold each week by Apple and O2 - the sole carrier of the iPhone 3G in the UK.
Apple reported sales in excess of 50,000 units during the iPhone 3Gs initial launch phase in the UK and sales of a respectable 35,000 units per week after the first month.
Current sales figures for the hugely impressive smartphone are at 27,000 units per week.
As a result of the strong demand, the iPhone 3G now holds a 4 6 per cent share of the UKs mobile market.
However, the credentials of the revolutionary handset are set to be fully tested over the coming months by the arrival of a range of smartphone handsets from rival manufacturers Sony Ericsson, RIM, HTC .
