INQ Unveils New Twitter Phones

Wed, 05 Aug 2009

INQ, the mobile phone company behind the popular Skype and Facebook handsets, has launched two new mobile devices aimed at users of the popular social networking tool Twitter .

The INQ Mini and INQ Chat 3G phones run INQ's specially designed Twitter application, which includes a widget that puts ‘tweets’ straight on the homescreen.

Both mobiles also come with Facebook and Skype capabilities, a built-in plug and play HSDPA modem and the ability to sync music with iTunes and Windows Media Player .

The INQ Chat has a similar design to the Nokia E63 smartphone mainly due to the inclusion of a QWERTY keyboard. It also features a built-in plug and play HSDPA modem, 2.4-inch QVGA TFT landscape display, a 3.2-megapixel camera, with auto focus, GPS, push Gmail and up to 4GB of storage.

Meanwhile, the candybar-designed INQ Mini comes with a 2.2-inch QVGA TFT screen, a 2-megapixel camera, access to standard ‘IMAP’ email services like Hotmail, and again offers up to 4GB of memory.

Frank Meehan, INQ's CEO, said: "We build phones that focus specifically on what people want to do most on mobile, and deliver it at a price point that's easy for consumers and profitable for operators."

"We have completely broken the vice grip hold that high end smartphones had on great mobile internet experiences, and made them available to everybody."

Both the INQ Mini and Chat handsets are due to be released in the UK in the last quarter of 2009 and will be available on the 3 network . Details on pricing are yet to be confirmed.
