Motorola Milestone To Launch In UK On December 7

The new Motorola Milestone smartphone, Motorola's second Android-based handset, is set to go on sale in the UK next week.

From December 7, SIM-free versions of the handset will be sold exclusively through online retailer Expansys until the end of the year for £449.99, excluding delivery.

The website is also offering the mobile on a T-Mobile Combi 30 contract for £35 per month, with an additional £50 charge for the phone .

The Milestone, known as the Motorola Droid in the US, is the first mobile phone from Motorola to run on the latest version of Google's Android operating system (Android 2.0), which promises enhanced functionality and improved usability.

The phone comes packed with a wide range of features, including a slide-out full Qwerty keyboard, a 5 megapixel camera with flash, a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen, 1GHz ARM-based processor, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth connectivity and an 8GB SD card .

In a statement, Motorola said: "The Milestone is designed to set a new standard in smart phones, with superior speed, power and features."

"This is a phone for consumers who are excited by the latest technology, and are willing to try advanced handsets and new mobile applications, particularly those that help them manage their fast-paced lives."

In the US, more than 800,000 Droid handsets have been sold since the phone went on sale at the start of November.
