US mobile phone manufacturer Palm has indicated that its highly anticipated Pre smartphone may be close to launching in the UK market.
The companys website has been updated with a coming soon message and is now offering interested individuals the chance to sign up for notification on the Pre smartphone, although it still lacks any official UK release date.
The Palm Pre is being billed as an iPhone killer, with its cool design, slide-out QWERTY keyboard and brand new WebOS operating system, which supports the standard XHTML, CSS and JavaScript applications, allowing users to run all their favourite applications.
The mobile handset packs a beautiful 3.1-inch touchscreen display with 480 x 320-pixel resolution that offers full 24-bit colour reproduction. It also comes equipped with WiFi, built-in GPS, 8GB memory, email and a 3 megapixel camera.
It still remains to be seen who Palm have in mind to distribute the phone in the UK, although Orange and T-Mobile are thought to be the two main contenders.
