Mon, 16 Feb 2009

Sony Ericsson has unveiled the world's first mobile phone with a built-in 12.1-megapixel camera.

The high-end device, codenamed Idou, will be launched in the second half of 2009 as the company’s first mobile handset under its new Entertainment Unlimited Service.

Other impressive features of the Idou include a 3.5-inch touchscreen display with 'intuitive touch features' and a 16:9 widescreen ratio, a fully-featured MP3 player and a powerful Xenon flash.

The new all-in-one handset will be powered by the first iteration of the Symbian mobile phone operating system, which is based upon the 5th edition of the S60 platform, and will allow users to download extra software and applications to their device.

Sony said the new Entertainment Unlimited brand will consist of top-line handsets that combine Cybershot and Walkman technology, along with increased connectivity options, video, gaming and other functionalities.

In addition to the Idou, Sony Ericsson has also unveiled the W995 Walkman phone, which includes an 8.1-megapixel camera, Assisted GPS support, WiFi or HSPA capabilities, and a couple impressive music features, such as 3.5mm audio jack.
