Samsung Mobile has announced the launch of its new entertainment service, Samsung Movies, which allows its customers to download movies and TV series to their mobile phones .
The new virtual movie store offers over 500 film titles and TV shows from top studios Warner Bros, Paramount, Universal and Momentum Pictures, including latest releases such as The Dark Knight and IronMan.
Samsung said it would double the number of titles to 1,000 by the end of the first quarter and again to 2,000 movies and TV shows by the end of June.
Downloads, which can be bought or rented, will only be available for watching on compatible, video-enabled Samsung phones such as the new Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition .
The service is also available to anyone with a compatible laptop or PC, and the electronics company is hoping to expand the offering to its notebooks, MP3 and MP4 players and television sets.
Nick Turner-Samuels, head of content at Samsung Mobile UK, said: "We're very excited to be able to provide existing and future customers access to their favourite movies and TV shows across a number of different Samsung platforms. "
"On top of this, it's all in superior picture and sound quality to the standard currently available in the market."
Samsung Movies will start from £2.49 for 24 hour rentals or from £4.99 to buy.
