Tesco Mobile has landed a deal to join O2, Orange and Vodafone as a UK carrier of the Apple iPhone .
In an announcement on its website, Tesco Mobile revealed that it will sell the iPhone 3G and 3GS handsets over the coming weeks in Tesco Phone Shops and online through Tesco Direct as part of its joint venture with O2, the first iPhone provider in the UK.
A spokeswoman for the company said: "It's a bit of a coup for the Tesco Mobile network. We know customers are going to love the iPhone ."
"Our absolute aim is to get this into stores and online before Christmas."
She confirmed that the iconic mobile phone will be offered on contract and pay-as-you-go deals but was unable to give any details on pricing, dded that the company would like to "bring a bit of Tesco value to the iPhone ".
Tesco Mobile is the third network provider to offer the iPhone in Britain following O2 and Orange, while Vodafone has also signed a deal to launch the popular device from early next year.
With over 2 million customers, Tesco Mobile is the UKs fastest growing mobile phone network.
Earlier this year, the company was voted the number one mobile operator for customer satisfaction by consumer group Which?
