Orange To Offer iPhone From Early November

Mon, 26 Oct 2009

Mobile giant Orange will begin selling the iPhone on its network from early next month, according to reports.

A number of sources claim the mobile handset will be available to purchase on Orange from November 10th, the day after O2's two-year exclusivity arrangement with Apple comes to an end.

Orange announced in September that it had secured the rights to offer the latest version of the iconic device, the iPhone 3GS, to its customers before Christmas 2009 but refused to give an exact UK launch date.

It is thought more than 200,000 customers have already registered an interest in the iPhone on the Orange network, despite details on pricing and tariffs yet to be confirmed by the company.

The handset will go on sale through the Orange website, the company’s own stores and high street retailer Phones4U.

The iPhone will also be available on the Vodafone network from early 2010, while fellow network provider 3 has also expressed its desire to sell the Apple handset in the near future.

Speaking at a Westminster eForum event last week, 3 chief executive Kevin Russell, said: "I would expect the iPhone to be on the 3 network sometime during 2010."

"At the moment, we don't have the iPhone . We don't really have any smartphones but if we improve our range of smartphones and introduce the iPhone then our data traffic will grow massively."
