Microsoft Kin Smartphones To Launch In The UK This Autumn

Microsoft has launched two mobile phones designed specifically for texting and social networking.

The smartphones, named Kin One and Kin Two, were recently unveiled by the software giant in the US and are being marketed as mobiles for the younger generation of smartphone users.

The phones have gone on sale in the US and are scheduled to arrive in the UK this autumn. Vodafone has secured a deal to be the exclusive network partner for both the Kin One and Kin Two.

The Kin One is the smaller of the two handsets, and features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 2.6-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 5mp camera, music player, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack and 4GB internal memory.

The Kin Two comes with the same features, but has a larger 3.4-inch, an 8mp camera with flash and 8GB of on-board memory. Unlike the Kin One, it can also capture videos in high definition (HD).

Both phones feature a new user interface called Loop, which combines all social network accounts into one large-feed, allowing users’ to view all Twitter, Facebook and MySpace updates on their home screen. Another feature of the KIN smartphones is Spot, which enables users to drag media content such as texts, videos and pictures into one place on the phone and share them with contacts and friends.
