The Google Nexus One smartphone is now available to pre-order from online retailer Play.com.
The handset, which runs on the latest version of Googles Android operating system (Android 2.1), will be available to buy SIM-free from February 16. However, the phone will set customers back a whopping £599.99.
According to the Play.com site, customers will receive their unlocked Google phone within 3-4 working days from the date of purchase.
Up till now, Brits have only been able to get their hands on the HTC-produced device by going through Google's own hosted web-store and having it shipped to the UK.
The Nexus One is powered by a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor and comes with a 3.7-inch 480x800-pixel AMOLED screen, a 5-megapixel camera, music player and push email .
However, UK models of the mobile phone will not feature the much-hyped multitouch support and will also lack Google Navigation - a free, voice search-enalbed sat nav application that provides 3D satellite images and traffic status.
Vodafone is expected to be the first UK mobile network operator to offer the Nexus One on monthly tariffs. The iPhone rival is expected to arrive on the network in April.
