UK Launch Date For Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Announced

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 smartphone will finally go on sale in the UK at the start of next month, according to online reports.

The mobile maker’s eagerly awaited Android 1.6 device has been given a March 1 release date, with Vodafone rumoured to be the first network operator to carry the handset .

The Sony Ericsson X10 comes equipped with a 4-inch touchscreen display with 800 x 480 resolution, a Qualcom 1Ghz Snapdragon processor and an 8-megapixel camera . It also provides 1GB of internal memory, with microSD card support for up to 16GB.

The news comes just hours after Sony Ericsson announced the launch of the Aspen smartphone – the company’s first Blackerry-like mobile and the latest edition to the company’s eco-friendly GreenHeart product line.

The Aspen comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and is powered by the latest upgrade to the Windows Mobile platform - Windows Mobile 6.5.3.

Other features include a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, a 3.2-megapixel camera, HSDPA, WiFi and a-GPS support, stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack and built in Facebook, Twitter and Windows Messenger apps.

Sony Ericsson's GreenHeart phones are produced using recycled materials and come with power management features and chargers to help reduce energy consumption. They are also sold in eco-friendly boxes.
