First Android Mobile From LG Released In UK

Mon, 18 Jan 2010

The InTouch Max GW620 smartphone, the first Android handset from mobile maker LG, has officially been launched in the UK.

The mobile handset is the company's first mobile to run using the Android mobile operating system, and joins a growing line of Android-powered handsets on the market, including the recently launched Nexus One smartphone from Google .

Hardware features of the InTouch Max GW620 include a resistive 3-inch touchscreen, a full QWERTY slide-out keyboard, a 5MP camera and a built-in social networking manager.

John Barton, LG Mobile’s sales and marketing director, said the launch of the phone was "symbolic" for the company as it "signals the end of expensive and exclusive applications and the start of applications for everyone".

"We are proud to bring out the LG InTouch Max which is a high performing and easy-to-use device that is perfect for those out there who want to experience the ever-growing and popular world of applications," he said.

"Many people don't actually know that the Android market offers an impressive 20,000 plus applications which are easy to download, and of which 65 per cent are free – and this selection is growing every day!"

The LG InTouch Max GW620 is available on both T-Mobile and Virgin Media monthly price plans.

T-Mobile are offering the handset for free on a £20 a month, 24 month contract, which comes with unlimited data, while Virgin customers can get their hands on the phone, free of charge, on a £22 a month, 18 month tariff with unlimited texts and data.
