T-Mobile Release HTC Desire Ahead Of Schedule

Wed, 24 Mar 2010

T-Mobile has announced that it is now offering the brand new HTC Desire – HTC's own branded Android rival to Google's Nexus One smartphone .

The mobile was officially unveiled at last month’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, with T-Mobile among a number of carriers to announce they had secured a deal to offer the Android 2.1 handset in the UK.

T-Mobile’s original launch date was March 26, but the mobile network operator has already opened its online store to allow orders of the new device.

Customers are being offered the phone for free on a two-year, £35 a month price plan which includes 1,200 minutes, 500 texts and unlimited internet access.

Alternatively, users can pay £164 for the handset and sign up to a £10 per month, two-year contract with 100 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited web browsing.

As well as T-Mobile, the Desire will also be available through Vodafone, Orange, O2, 3 and Virgin Media within the next few weeks.

The HTC Desire smartphone comes with the same specs as the Nexus One with a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor for super-fast performance, a 5-megapixel camera, integrated Google Mail and Google Maps, GPS and a wide range of connectivity options.
