The new mobile phone company formed by the merger of Orange and T-Mobile's UK operations will be called Everything Everywhere, it has been revealed.
Tom Alexander, the newly merged groups chief executive, unveiled the name of Britain's largest mobile communications company to directors at an event held in Wembley Stadium on Monday.
He said the name reflected the "ambition" of the new business, which is to offer customers "instant access to everything, everywhere".
"What I wanted was a company name that did not distract or confuse from two very strong brands," he commented. "I love Everything Everywhere because it really does encapsulate the vision and the ambition for the company."
However, he also confirmed that the Orange and T-Mobile brands will be retained in the UK due to their strong individual personalities. Mr Alexander said that Orange had a "premium element", while T-Mobile had a "straightforward, value-orientated appeal".
The new company will takeover O2 has Britains biggest mobile phone operator with over 700 stores on the high street and more than 30 million mobile and broadband customers, giving it a 37 per cent share of the UK mobile market.
Prior to the merger, Orange and T-Mobile were the third and fourth largest mobile phone operators in the UK.
