The much anticipated HTC Evo 3D smartphone will not be coming to Vodafone due to delays with its UK launch, the mobile operatormobile operator has confirmed.
The Android handset, which is one of only two 3D handsets currently bound for the UK, was listed in the ‘Coming Soon’ section of the Vodafone website, with the mobile giant expected to be one of the key launch partners.
However, the glasses-free 3D handset has now been removed from the site, much to the disappointment of many customers who were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next-generation phone .
A spokesperson for Vodafone commented: "We've decided that due to delays to the launch of the device, we no longer plan to include the Evo 3D in our smartphone range."
"We realise this will come as a disappointment to some people but we already offer some fantastic phones, like the HTC Sensation and Galaxy S2,with some really exciting handsets in the pipeline and we'll continue to focus on bringing the latest and greatest smartphones to Vodafone customers."
"We will be contacting customers who have registered for updates about the device to make them aware of this decision shortly."
The HTC Evo 3D was originally given a July launch date for the UK, but it now seems customers will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the latest HTC handset, which packs a 4.3-inch Super LCD touchscreen display, a Qualcomm 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, and dual 5MP cameras that can take 3D and 2D stills and record videos in 720p HD.
The smartphone runs Android 2.3 together with HTC’s Sense 3.0 UI, and also comes with a 1.3MP front-facing webcam, 1GB of RAM and 1GB of internal storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, DLNA, a microUSB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
