Rumours are circulating that Apple might launch two new iPhones this year, with production of a fifth-generation handset due to begin in August for a September release date.
Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty used her AppleInsider blog to reveal that the Steve Jobs-fronted firm will begin manufacturing in "mid to late August".
She added that the iPhone 5 will be on sale by the end of the third quarter, according to a meeting with an unnamed contact in Taiwan.
Meanwhile Deutsche Bank representative Chris Whitmore has suggested that the firm might even develop two new handsets by the end of the year.
Fortune reported that the expert claimed the time is right for Apple to "aggressively penetrate the mid range smartphone market", with Nokia and Research in Motion both struggling.
Meanwhile, TomTom has announced that the latest version of its iPhone app will allow users to plot up to five stops as part of a longer journey.
