HTC has announced that its first 3D-enabled smartphone, the EVO 3D, will launch in the UK next month.
The latest handset from the Taiwanese mobile maker features glasses free 3D technology, meaning it can record and play 3D stills and movies but does not require users to wear glasses to view them, much like the upcoming LG Optimus 3D handset.
The '3D Multimedia Superphone', which is already available in America, also boasts a large 4.3in Super LCD qHD touchscreen display with 540x960 resolution, two 5MP cameras that are capable of taking both 2D and 3D pictures and videos, a 1.2-ghz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM and 1GB of internal storage.
As expected, the phone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and features an updated version of HTC’s Sense UI, which includes an active lock screen, 3D menus and 3D weather animations.
There’s also a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calls, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, DLNA support, HDMI-out and a microUSB port.
On its Facebook page, HTC said: "We're happy to announce that our first 3D superphone, the HTC EVO 3D, is coming to Europe. It will be hitting UK shelves from July!"
Details on pricing for the EVO 3D are yet to be released, but the handset is expected to cost more than the recently released HTC Sensation, which is currently available for around £500 sim free .
