The new iPhone 5 could be available in Britain by the autumn, with one website suggesting it may be on shelves by September.
Bloomberg reported that a release in the third quarter of the year is possible, but technology website, Kitguru has gone as far as identifying the ninth month of the year as the most likely launch date.
It claimed to have spoken to sources in Taipei, which suggested that September was the most probable month for the fifth version of the popular Apple smartphone to be made available.
Meanwhile, some commentators have claimed that the new version of the iPhone will actually be called the iPhone 4GS as it is more of a revamp of the current model, rather than a new design.
There are also rumours that the boffins at Steve Jobs' firm are working on an updated version of the iPad that will come with a mega high-resolution screen.
The current iPhone 4 features a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels resolution - higher than the 480 x 800 offered by most phones in the modern market - which could suggest that this is an area in which Apple is keen to excel.
