Motorola has announced the release of a new version of its hugely successful Razr mobile, which sold more than 130million units following its launch in 2004.
The 2011 version of the popular iconic handset features a sleek and slim Kevlar body measuring just 7.1mm thin, 4.3in Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass and a splash guard coating, a 1.2GHz processor and an 8megapixel camera that can record in full 1080p HD.
The phone runs Android 2.3.5, includes 1GB of storage, and also comes preloaded with a new app called MotoCast, which lets users stream or download music, films or files from any PC in the world, so long as it also has MotoCast installed on it.
Other neat features include the Smart Actions app that lets users automate everyday tasks such as switching the handset to silent when they step into the office, plus the phone will compatible with the laptop-style lapdock made popular by the Motorola Atrix smartphone .
Motorola chairman and chief executive Sanjay Jha said the Razr "is an iconic brand, and one that originally revolutionized the mobile device industry by turning a functional necessity into an object of desire."
"Now we've done it again by creating an impossibly thin smartphone a head-turning design with the power to carry your life with you," he added.
The new Razr is scheduled to go on sale in the UK in November and will cost £380 SIM free .
