Sony Ericsson has announced its new top-of-the-range smartphone, the Xperia Arc S, will include technology that allows it to take 3D panoramic pictures using a standard 2D camera - the first of its kind for the mobile market.
Users will be able to view the 3D snaps on any appropriately equipped 3D television, the electronics giant said. However, pictures will only be viewable in 2D on the phone itself.
Scheduled for UK release in October, the Android-based Arc S packs a 4.2 inch touchscreen display, an 8.1mp camera and lightning fast 1.4GHz processor, making it 25 per cent faster than its predecessor - the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc .
The phone, which was unveiled at the IFA technology fair in Berlin, also features Sony’s Music and Video Unlimited media stores, and can act as a remote control for Sony Bravia televisions .
Sony Ericsson is also rumored to be working on a new flagship phone for 2012, dubbed the Nozomi.
According to online reports, the phone will come with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4.3-inch screen with1280x720 resolution and 32GB of internal storage.
Sources say the Nozomi will hit the UK market in March 2012, although Sony Ericcsson is yet to confirm any details surrounding the device.
