Chinese mobile manufacturer ZTE has announced its newly-unveiled Tania Windows Phone smartphone will go on sale in the UK in the second half of February.
The Tania features a 4.3-inch screen, a 1GHz processor and a five megapixel camera, and is the first handset from ZTE to run the new Windows Phone 7.5 Mango platform, which allows users to access their Xbox Live accounts from the handset, as well as open and edit Microsoft Office documents and stream music via Microsoft's Zune service.
It also comes with 4GB of flash memory and 512 MB of RAM, Bluetooth, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, FM radio, compass and Assisted-GPS (AGPS).
ZTE confirmed UK buyers will able to purchase the Tania through various second-tier operators on contracts costing between £10 and £20 per month, which it claims will make it the "most affordable 4.3in screen Windows Phone on the market".
The companys director of mobile operations, Wu Sa, said: "Were delighted to be working with Microsoft and as a key partner will support the industry forecasted growth on this exciting new platform with both the ZTE Tania and in the future a growing range of devices."
"Last year, ZTE announced its plans to build market presence with ZTE branded devices with the release of the ZTE Skate, Libra and Tureis. Our first own-brand handset to enter the market in 2012 is the ZTE Tania."
Leila Martine, UK director of Windows Phone, commented: "Having ZTE join the Windows Phone family is great news. ZTEs expertise will be crucial in delivering Windows Phone to new and different customers."
"We look forward to continuing and developing our relationship with ZTE in the future."
