O2 Adds BlackBerry Smartphones To PAYG Tariffs

O2 has announced that it will release a range of BlackBerry smartphones on Pay as You Go (PAYG) deals.
The mobile network operator said it will offer five BlackBerry handsets on PAYG, including the BlackBerry Pearl 3G, the BlackBerry Curve and the Blackberry Bold.
The Pearl 3G, which was released on T-Mobile PAYG yesterday, will be available at a retail price of £249.99, while the Curve 8520 will cost £149.99 and the Bold 9700 £349.99.
O2’s PAYG tariffs include 500 free texts, access to BlackBerry’s Messenger service and 500MB of monthly data when customers top up with a minimum of £15 each month.
Jonathan Earle, head of consumer marketing for O2 UK, said: “O2’s new Pay &Go tariffs for BlackBerry smartphones will bring all the benefits of BlackBerry to even more of our customers. With BBMTM being used more and more across the world, now anyone can share their PIN and get chatting.”
Meanwhile, rival operator 3 UK has confirmed it will be carrying Blackberry’s latest and new flagship smartphone, the Torch 9800, when it launches in the UK at the end of the month.
Last week it was confirmed that both Orange and Vodafone would be offering the handset, which comes equipped with a full touchscreen and slide-out Qwerty keyboard, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with flash and video recording, 4GB of memory, WiFi, GPS and a microSD card slot.
The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is also the first mobile to run on the new BlackBerry 6 operating system, and the first to come with RIM’s App World application store preinstalled, making it easier for users to access apps.
