HTC Smartphones Overtake iPhone For Online Demand

HTC mobiles are the most searched for handsets in the UK, according to research by comparison website Good Mobile Phones .
A survey by the company found that the HTC Wildfire, Desire and desire HD devices were the most popular mobile search terms on its site by UK consumers.
Next on the list were the Samsung Galaxy S and the Nokia N8 smartphones, followed by the iPhone 4 in sixth place.
Completing the top 10 list was the Blackberry Curve 8520, the Samsung Tocco Lite, the BlackBerry Torch and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini .
Commenting on the findings, Mark Owen, Managing Director of Good Mobile Phones, said: “For some time now, HTC has been knocking at the door and trying to overtake the Apple iPhone’s dominance of the handset market.”
“Our results clearly show that they have taken the lead in terms of consumer demand for their smartphones .”
He added: “We are surprised that Apple has done very little in comparison to its handset rivals in terms of incentivising consumers to choose their products, and many believe that the HTC range of handsets offer a more competitive technological edge in terms of features and functionality.”
