The LG Optimus 2X, the world’s first dual-core smartphone, will go on sale in the UK towards the end of February, according to reports.
The handset was initially due to launch this month, but James Choi, LG’s marketing strategy and planning team director, recently confirmed that the device will not be available in Britain until mid-to-late February 2011.
The LG Optimus 2X is the first mobile phone to be powered by a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 dual-core chipset, which is designed to offer increased performance without the problems associated with heat.
It comes with a 4-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display, an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture, HDMI and DLNA connectivity, a micro-US port and up to 32GB of memory via mircroSD .
The phone will launch with Android 2.2, but will be upgradeable to Android 2.3 ‘Gingerbread’ shortly after.
