O2 has announced the launch of a location-based mobile deals service that uses GPS technology to track customers through their handsets and offer them discounts at nearby retailers.
Priority Moments will offer o2 customers exclusive, high-quality offers and experiences from around 30 major high street brands that are relevant and local to the mobile network’s 22 million customers, allowing them to be used immediately at over 3,500 locations across the country.
Brands that have signed up so far include Odeon Cinemas, Harvey Nichols, Pizza Hut, WH Smith, French Connection, JJB Sports, Zizzi, Ask Pizza, Hotel Chocolat, Toni and Guy, Yo! Sushi, National Express and Little Chef.
O2 said the new scheme follows the success of previous services, including O2 More and its Priority Ticket scheme, which has so far given more than 600,000 of its customers the chance to book tickets to O2-sponsored venues before they go on general release.
Sally Cowdry, marketing and consumer director at O2, said: “We designed the service to make life easier, cheaper and more enjoyable for our customers.”
“This is not a tactical programme of cheap one-off deals – it’s about building a long-term, nationwide service that benefits both our customers and our partners. The combination of mobile, great offers and experiences by trusted companies with long-term partnerships creates what we believe is a special service.”
O2 customers with iPhone and Android handsets can access the service by downloading the free “Priority Moments” app, while it can also be accessed via a mobile website using any other smartphone .
