The Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone will officially go on sale in the UK on November 17th, the electronics giant has confirmed.
Unveiled at the IFA 2011 expo in Berlin last month, the Galaxy Note has been billed as a ‘new type of smartphone’ with tablet-esque features built into a mobile body.
Specs include a huge 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a dual core 1.4GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor with 1GB of RAM and an 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. The device can also be used with a stylus.
Simon Stanford, Managing Director of Samsung UK and Ireland Mobile, said: “The Galaxy Note is a great example of Samsung’s passion for innovation by bringing to market a brand new category of mobile products.”
“It is our fastest handset to date and brings together all the benefits of our award-winning smartphone technology and services.”
Details on which network operators will carry the Galaxy Note and price plans have yet to be confirmed, although sources claim that several online vendors are already taking pre-orders for the phone .
The news comes after latest mobile sales figures show that the Samsung’s flagship phone – the Galaxy S II – was the top-selling, contract Android handset in the UK during September, with global sales of the smartphone topping the 10 million milestone.
