The newly released Samsung Galaxy S3 has displaced the iPhone 4S as the UK’s most popular mobile handset, according to new research by uSwitch.com.
Latest analysis of online search data by the website’s Mobile Tracker revealed that the flagship Samsung smartphone is the most sought after phone among UK web surfers, ranking first in its first appearance in the online chart.
The iPhone 4S dropped to second place in the March ‘Top Ten Handsets by web search’ list, while the Samsung Galaxy S2, which had been at number one for 11 consecutive months, ended the month in third spot.
In fact, Samsung claimed four of the top ten places with the Galaxy Ace coming in at five and the Note smartphone/tablet hybrid at six.
Also popular in March was the new HTC One Series range of smartphones, with the One X, One S and One V all featuring in the Top Ten chart, along with the iPhone 4 and the Sony Xperia S .
Ernest Doku, technology expert at uSwitch.com, said: “As far as early adopters are concerned, the S3 is living up to expectations. But what is interesting this month is the arrival of the HTC One series as a major player in the smartphone market alongside Apple and Samsung .”
