Consumers increasingly using mobile technology to find deals

Consumers are increasingly using their smartphones and tablets in order to find the best deals on the web.
This is according to new research from Nielsen – a group focused on consumer measurement and information – which found shoppers are turning to mobile apps and daily deal sites in the run up to Christmas in a bid to cut down their expenditure.
It was shown that people in the US are looking to take advantage of mobile coupons from retailer sites more than other sources.
Indeed, the findings revealed 54 per cent of those who used a coupon on their mobile in a bid to bring down prices did so by obtaining the vouchers from retailer websites.
John Burbank, president of strategic initiatives at Nielsen, explained people are heading to the most reliable and convenient sources when looking to take advantage of the best deals.
Mr Burbank added: “This creates an opportunity for retailers and daily deal sites to streamline the process of gathering deals and coupons for users, ultimately increasing website and app traffic to drive sales.”
